Terminate Truancy
Terminate Truancy is the ongoing campaign of the CEPNZ to eliminate truancy in New Zealand (first initiated in November 2003).
Breaking News...It's Effective! A recent survey of NZ schools has shown that ALL schools that have fully implemented our truancy resources have had a reduction in truancy and non-authorised absences! Get involved now...The CEPNZ was the FIRST to launch truant-free-zones in business districts in NZ...Don't get stuck with imitations...only the CEPNZ supplies the FULL resources needed to make it work!
......................Are you annoyed with school aged children hanging around shopping areas, intimidating both shoppers and staff? Are you fed-up with young groups of shop-lifters and bag-snatchers? Then get behind the Terminate Truancy campaign! Get on to your council to get involved! Register your support now by clicking here.
Get Involved Now! We invite all local councils, business associations, truancy officers, police, social services, schools and concerned citizens to play an active part in this campaign. Using the copyrighted truancy resources developed by the CEPNZ in 2003 for schools and our latest 'no truants' posters and information sheets for retailers, we can all work together to ensure that ALL children are in school during school hours so that they all have the opportunity to learn and succeed in life and eliminate daytime juvenile crime and substance abuse.
Parents have the responsibility to ensure that they observe the law by enrolling their child in a registered educational establishment and also ensure that they attend school. The CEPNZ encourages schools to prosecute parents of chronic truants but there would be no reason to go that far if the community and school can work together to ensure kids are where they are supposed to be through the CEPNZ's Terminate Truancy.
Although the Government has spent millions of dollars on truancy initiatives around the country, many regions have been either left to fend for themselves or have simply not had access to reasonable resources. Even those schools that are current using existing services are coming to the CEPNZ for truancy resources!
This void has been filled by the CEPNZ. We are the first and only private enterprise to develop an online truancy reporting system and online truancy register to assist participating schools. Our Truancy Resource Pack provides the resources needed by any school and community to terminate truancy and we would like to supply ALL schools and districts with these resources and give our assistance to the establishment of truancy-free zones (an original idea of the CEPNZ) around ALL shopping areas.
This is assisted by the display of our no-truancy stickers (see example below) by businesses in shopping areas. Each shop is also supplied with an information sheet on how to confront school aged children and report truants. In this way, we will also see a reduction in shop-lifting and youth crime in all participating regions.
As the CEPNZ does not receive financial assistance from the Government or any Community Trust to carry out its operations, schools have had to used their over burdened Operations Grants to purchase our truancy resources for themselves. To date, Over 600 schools have begun using our truancy resources throughout the country.
Although we are passionate about our community and care about the education and betterment of children, the CEPNZ can not supply all schools and communities with access to these resources for free and therefore we ask the community (councils, shops and business associations) to help our schools and help our children by becoming financially involved and committed to the Terminate Truancy campaign.
If you would like to support this venture and get children back in school and off the streets by establishing truancy free zones in your area and supplying all your local schools with access to these resources so you can work together to get kids off the streets, fill out the form below or send the CEPNZ an Email or write to us at CEPNZ, PO Box 20-616, Glen Eden, Auckland 0641.
Follow the example of the Far North District Council, Whangarei District Council, Rodney District Council and the Gore Truancy Service:
For Councils and business organisations, the basic financial contribution is $2,500 per region (suggested figure only, make an offer dependent on the size of your region). This example includes the supply of personalised access codes to the online version of our Truancy Resource Pack for up to 50 schools within the region, the listing of these schools on the online truancy reporting system, their access to our online truancy database and additional resources, back up from the CEPNZ and the rights to print our anti-truancy posters for shop windows (see example to right) and a customised business information sheet for copying and distribution to shops (example cost also includes GST).
Remember: The CEPNZ is a private business. Our copyrighted resources may NOT be duplicated in any form without our prior permission. All press releases that relate to the establishment of truant free zones using our resources must mention the CEPNZ as the supplier of these resources and the originator of the truant free zone initiative.
When you indicate that you are able to assist financially with this project on filling out the form below, an invoice will be emailed to you for your records.
It is envisaged that the CEPNZ will work directly with a responsible coordinator for each region (preferably nominated by Council or the Police or local truancy service) and provide our support through this local coordinator.
Please use this form to "get the ball rolling" in your area or use the "Donate" button below the form to make an instant contribution and provide details of where you would like resources sent:
Make your contribution now: Thank you for your time. Let's all work together to make it happen!
